Recent Publications:

Dr. Stephens is currently completing the second edition of an introduction to education in Canada textbook.--  Parkay, F. Stanford, B Vaillancourt, J & Stephens, H.(2008). Becoming a Teacher. Toronto: Pearson Education Canada Inc. 

In March of 2004, the co-authored textbook Becoming a Teacher will be released by Pearson Publishing.

Additional Information:

Dr. Stephens is currently completing the multi-media virtual learning environment - Managing to Teach. This technology-based learning tool will be marketed by Smart Firm of Halifax, Nova Scotia in agreement with Acadia University's OTTI. Funding for this initiative was provided by a Proof of Concept Award ($10,000.00) in conjunction with Nova Scotia Economic Development

As well, Dr. Stephens is currently developing a prospectus for a text that features in-service teacher narratives. Pearson Canada has expressed interest in the proposed collection as a part of their innovative MyLabSchool web resource for teachers. This is a suite of online tools designed to help students make the transition from student to teacher. The site includes videos, case studies, e-books on key topics, career- and lesson-building resources, and research tools.

In 2002, Dr. Stephens was a co-developer of the web-based virtual learning environment Managing to Teach: A Classroom Management VLE. This project has been presented internationally at various conferences.

In 2003, Dr. Stephens was nominated by Acadia University for a President's Award for Innovation and received an award for Innovative Excellence in Teaching, Learning and Technology from Florida Community College.
