Why Mindfulness?

While these are some of the most uncertain times most of us have ever experienced, it is normal to feel anxious, overwhelmed, and frightened. Practicing mindfulness, which is simply paying attention with non-judgment and intentional purpose to the present moment, can help to ease our experience of unpleasant thoughts, feelings, and emotions that may arise during this particularly challenging time in our world. Practicing intentionally within our days and bringing awareness to the present moment can be a means for cultivating refuge within, and finding calm in the midst of chaos.

A Facebook page was created by three counselling therapist interns - Allie Cantwell, Belinda Robinson & Anna von Maltzahn - with the intention of providing a compilation of mindfulness resources, so that you can find and choose the one that is suitable for you. Mindfulness can be practiced in a multitude of ways. Here, you’ll find mindfulness practices across the categories of meditation, guided imagery, eating, nature and the outdoors, animals, body awareness, and physical movement. We hope that this page serves you by helping you to find a practice that you enjoy and we wish you all the best in your mindfulness journey.
