B.Ed. Students

Dear Pre-service Teacher:

The practical practicum course, located in the schools, is an integral component of the professional preparation of beginning teachers. This site offers important program information along with the procedures and policies that guide the pre-service teacher’s practicum. We believe that Acadia pre-service teachers bring an enthusiastic energy to teaching and a desire to learn of the rewards and challenges that this profession offers.

Acadia University is fortunate to partner with regional Centres of Education as well as other educational institutions to provide learning experiences for our students. Experienced teachers along with their students invite our pre-service teachers into their classrooms.  It is our responsibility to ensure that we are well prepared and follow all directions and guidelines as respectful guests.

As the pre-service teacher engages with the practicum process, their teaching practice and introduction to schools will be enhanced and complemented by their studies at the University. Learning in both sites offers the beginning professional the opportunity to connect theory and practice.  Please be reminded that a pre-service teacher must be in good standing and must have successfully completed all coursework before engaging in a practicum.

All evaluation forms are available on this site under Practicum Evaluations.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding practicum, please contact Mr. Everett MacPherson, Practicum Coordinator
